Petal Power in pastels

When you walk into a quilt shop full of fabric, which are the colors that draw your eye and you find yourself walking towards first? What are the colors in quilts that have you thinking “Wow! That’s gorgeous, I’ve got to make that one”?

I don’t know about you, but if I don’t like the color of something, I’m probably not going to spend a whole lot of time looking at it. Who knows how much I’m missing! Sometimes it takes someone saying, “Hey, come and check this out” before I take a closer look and discover something that’s really wonderful – even if it’s not made in my favorite colors.

When you see something in a color you don’t particularly care for, how good are you at visualizing it in different colors? Can you see the possibilities in the design if it were made in your colors?

The original Petal Power table runner is in black and white prints, using fabric from my Transformation in Black and White fabric line by Benartex.

What do you think about this new version that is done in Michael Miller’s Fairy Frost?

The second version is a lot softer – and more soothing to the eyes. The fabric requirements are slightly different because of the different placement of colors:

  • Michael Miller Fairy Frost Mint Fairy Frost Mint, 1 yard (a generous one!)
  • Michael Miller Fairy Frost Sage Fairy Frost Sage, 1 3/4 yards
  • Michael Miller Fairy Frost Mermaid Fairy Frost Mermaid, 1/4 yard
  • Michael Miller Fairy Frost Glass Fairy Frost Glass, 3/8 yard
  • Michael Miller Fairy Frost Ribbon Fairy Frost Ribbon, 3/8 yard
  • Appliqué shapes – scraps of your choice

What colors will you use to create your Petal Power table runner? To make it easier for you to visualize it, I have a gift for you.

  1. Absolutely love the new colorway. I purchased the 6″ version last week but haven’t had the opportunity to play with it yet. Can’t wait! Have printed out a handful of coloring sheets to work with and may be back yet for the 12″. So many ideas floating! Thank you for your fantastic vision and creativity. You really inspire me!

  2. They look gorgeous, I can’t wait to try them. So beautiful

  3. I have just found you on YouTube and also your website. I am new to machine embroidery and your work is very inspiring. I would like to think in time I could achieve something along these lines. Your work is stunning and exquisite.
